It’s a’comin! Hold on to your shorts while I get it together. I’ll warn you now, I’m in a weird jazzy-soundtrack-bluesy-indie music mood today, so there’s no telling what I’ll throw online.
Any requests before I finish it? I’ve got an mp3 player with close to 4,000 songs it, so there’s a very good chance I have what you’re looking for.
You know the rules when it comes to my music posts…
- The music only stays up for 24 hours, then it’s deleted. So get it while it’s hot.
- If you like what you hear, purchase the cd. Or don’t. Whatever. It’s totally up to you.
- Do not, under any circumstances, hotlink to my files. If you do, I’ll string you up by your toenails and beat you with a greasy dishrag.
- The audio preview feature is there for you to listen to the song and decide whether you want to download it. Do not play the song over and over and over and over. It runs up my bandwidth. And that makes Hulk angry.
- There are more songs under the cut. So check them out.
- A nice little “thanks” would be great, especially if you find something you like. And a “you suck” for those who don’t will be sufficient, as well.

Diana Krall – I’ve Got The World On A String / Purchase CD / Watch Video
Let it never be said that I don’t love Canadian singers, because every music post I’ve had for almost the past year has included one. And you know that if I’ve got a music post with jazz in it, I’m going to start it out with Diana Krall. She’s an artist who takes up quite a bit of room on my mp3 player. In fact, I think I have every song she’s ever released, plus some live ones that I’ve managed to come across in my vast travels across the internets and Limewire. She’s a true artist. I would KILL to have that smokey voice, singing or otherwise.

The House Of Flying Daggers – Beauty Song / Purchase CD / Purchase DVD / Watch Video
This is definitely one of my all-time favorite movies. If you haven’t seen it, run out now and rent it! Or if you have Comcast On-Demand, head to the HBO section. It should still be there for the next few days for free. It’s a foreign release and everything’s in subtitles, so you’ll have to work a little to follow the story. Visually, it’s one of the most appealing movies I’ve ever seen. As far as the story goes, it’s beautiful and tragic and completely brilliant. Love…it.

Brooke Fraser- Deciphering Me / Purchase CD / Watch Video
I credit The Late Greats, one of my favorite music blogs, for discovering Brooke Fraser. She puts me in mind of Holly Brook, with her style and voice. Let’s hope she finds as much success here in the States as she does in her native New Zealand. Then of course, we’re talking about corporate American radio. They never play anything worth a pot.

Hilary Duff – Play With Fire / Purchase CD / Watch Video
And with this song, I’m forced to eat my words. You see, I’ve said a million times in the past how much I loathe Hilary Duff and how she can’t sing and how you’ll NEVER see a song from her on my blog. And here I am, posting a song from her. This doesn’t mean that I like her or that she’s developed any sort of talent, it just means that I find this song a vast improvement from the bubble gum crap she’s put out before. If her new album is any indication of her growth as an artist and where she’s going, then there’s hope for her after all.

Eleni Mandell – Moonglow Lamp Low / Purchase CD
I really cannot remember where I heard about Eleni. I think it could’ve been MySpace. In any case, I’m glad I did, because she’s all I’ve been listening to the last month or so.

Dayna Kurtz – Right for Me / Purchase CD
One word…AMAZING! When I first heard this song, I was blown away. It has so many levels of emotion and styles. The song is so clever that you never really know if you’re listening to a song about love or heartbreak or if she’s being cheaky. And that voice! I had to listen to it, then Google her name before I figured out what gender she was. It’s certainly unique. Dayna’s another artist that is starting to take up considerable space in my music collection.

Groove Armada – Hands of Time / Purchase CD
Fans of “Alias” will remember this one. I believe it was Riika who sent this song to me a few years back. Since then, it’s been on heavy rotation on my player.
- Have a good week. xoxo!

for once, i am not too late to download! :) thanks for sharing, gennie.
Admitting for all the Internets to see that I do like that one Hilary Duff song that . . . well, the one that serves as the theme for Laguna Beach. Which I’m guessing I just revealed as another guilty pleasure. Cripes.
